I often wonder what are the skills that will be useful in the future, I think writing and reading is here to stay for long . Covid has given the opportunity to various independent ed tech companies to introduce diverse and trending skills to the children. The day before I discovered yellow classes an independent platform offering hobby blogging session for kids. Yellow classes is a start up by Arpit Mittal and Anshul Gupta offering hobby classes like dancing, art, GK etc. I registered him for the blogging classes and noticed that he enjoyed the session and was exited of the fact that he could have his own space on the internet.

Why I chose blogging for my kid?

-He is a reader, he loves books

-He has lots of stories to share

-He loves to make these concept art that narrates a story

-He loves technology, like the idea of having a blog in his name and that he can search himself in the google, He is quiet clear what he would like in his blog like he mentioned he would like to talk about electronics

  • He has been interested in learning the technicalities of starting the blog etc himself

Writing extends your memory, facilities editing and clarifies your thinking.

How can blogging help Children?

Children will learn a lot things like :

  • Hone their writing skills
  • Don’t we parents struggle to make kids write, we want them to master writing so that they have command on the language, we want them to learn grammer an blogging can help put all these learning in action.
  • Plan and organise their writing and work

Children will learn to categorise the work and at the same the importance of organising their writing so that others can easily read their writing.

  • Record their thoughts like a journal

Its a good habit to have a journal as it helps one to reflect on their day to day activities, write their dreams their passion and go back to it now and then.

  • Put their thoughts in a story

Children who are fond of story writing can have fun putting it in a place and share with friend and family

  • Review books or products

Children can review toys and books they like so that they can recommend their favourite toys and books to friends and family

  • Social networking and recognition

Children love to be known and recognised, they want to share their ideas and blogging can help children meet like minded friends

  • A future skill
  • Content writing is a growing as the world is going digital and the demand of content writers will be there in almost all the industries

Writing isn’t simply a skill used in school, it can be applied to a wide range of scenarios throughout your life- Jordan Peterson

Things to keep in mind as we introduce blogging to kids.

-Parents should be around and check before the content is published.

-E- safety guidelines should be shared with the kids and talk to them about internet safety

-Its not a competition with anyone, its a personal platform to talk about their interest.

-It should not be forced, parents should discuss with their kids before they take the decision to start a blog.

What a brilliant idea! I love it. You gave us an idea to try it too. It has so many benefits especially if a kid is interested in books, stories etc. Thank you for sharing it.
