How will children go back to the old normal?

Today my son got frustrated watching the 8 minute video his art teacher sent and mumbled “oh, God! Who will watch this eight minutes video?, he quickly went to the end of the video to understand the task given.

Sitting on the other side the students have the option to skip, fast forward and escape things they do not want. He can choose to stay silent in the class and type his heart content to his friends. He has no obligation to wish the teacher. There is not much follow up on the homework given as teachers obviously have humongous task to go through so many uploads and submissions considering everything needs to be clicked and uploaded.

My son understands and takes so much interest in the technology part of his online classes that writing seems very boring to him. He prefers answering google forms where you need to choose from the options given or doing maths on Google slides rather than pen and paper.

I sometimes wonder if this is the way for us parents and teachers to understand that students prefer things faster, in the click of the mouse. They need faster information and being born in the digital generation they don’t prefer paper and pen. My son always says “Ma, typing is easy!”

On the other hand if you see, we are saving on so much of resources. Especially the worksheet print outs and those A4 sheets. They study when they want to and there are times when my son decides to finish his task without reminders, he checks his homework by himself. He connects to the meetings and figures out technological issues and helps other peers to fix issues. He wakes up on time to join first in the sessions and says these online sessions saves time as he need not take bath and wear school uniform, comb his hair , wear school shoes and socks and then travel through the dense traffic only to reach school late.

Will be need to let go of those old ways, wearing those school uniforms and doing homework because we have the particular subject schedule for next day? Have students become more responsive with the freedom?

Well if the target after all was to get your child educated the I would say the purpose is established- they are learning.
